Ordinary Life in Extraordinary Times: Soviet Union [15:22]
Some of the daily life for the average citizens in the Soviet Union in the 70's-80's. The little girl in the video is me at the age of 2, 4 and 5. Filmed in Mitishi, the little, industrial town, not far from Moscow. You could see several children playgrounds near my house, Town Park with some old carousels called 'Daisy' and 'Boats'. The second part of the film was made in Moscow at the All-Russia Exhibition Centre/Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy. The exhibition place had about 80 pavilions and area of 700000 square metres. Each pavilion had been dedicated to a particular industry or a field. You could see Central Pavilion and Space Pavilion in the film. I want to say a big thank you to Alexandr Valinov who is an operator and director of the film. Great job. Directed, produced by Alexandr Valinov.

Birthday celebration St. Petersburg Russia May 2012 [19:16]
John 3:17-22 "God did not send his Son into the world to be judge of the world; he sent him so that the world might have salvation through him. The man who has faith in him does not come up to be judged; but he who has no faith in him has been judged even now, because he has no faith in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the test by which men are judged: the light has come into the world and men have more love for the dark than for the light, because their acts are evil. The light is hated by everyone whose acts are evil and he does not come to the light for fear that his acts will be seen. But he whose life is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his acts have been done by the help of God. After these things Jesus and his disciples went into the land of Judaea, and there he was with them for some time, giving baptism."

Russia in New York - Brighton Beach [05:11]
View the Google Map of Russia in New York: g.co On the southern outskirts of Brooklyn, just down the boardwalk from Coney Island, the peaceful ocean waves once drew waves of immigrants from a tumultuous past. Refugees from the former Soviet Union. After the Cold War ended in the '90s, an influx of Russians settled on the shores of the city. Brighton Beach, nicknamed Little Odessa after the Ukrainian city on the Black Sea, boasts the largest Russian-speaking population in the United States. Here, you may feel you need a translator, or a tour guide, like Dave Garbarskiy. Onward down Brighton Beach Avenue, at M & I International Food, locals stock up on fresh-made breads and other provisions. While there, also sample Russian-style eats like cured cold cuts, variations of pickled fish, and Pir-oj-ki: fried pastries with either a savory or a sweet-filled center. Fresh apricot or mango juices often accompany meals at cafes, and you can sample a variety of dishes for under ten dollars. Of course everyone in Russia needs a fur coat, and maybe a fox fur hat, as warm as they are stylish. Luckily, David's uncle owns a store down the street! When you commit to long train rides to the outskirts of New York City, you'll be amazed by the things you discover. It's not necessarily that Brighton Beach looks like Russia - it looks like any other neighborhood in Brooklyn. What makes it Russian is the people you meet, the sound of the language and the music in the streets, the foods you get ...

Karelia has over 20 thousand rivers, and 60 thousand lakes, a paradise for every fisherman. Water tourism routes stretch across the White Sea and Lakes Ladoga and Onega. Russia's most famous monasteries are located on the Solovetsky Islands and the Valaam Archipelago. And on Kizhi Island there is the historic museum of Russian Wooden Architecture. In the Kalevala district, you can visit villages where well known folk songs were written, and enjoy Kalevala, the famous genre of Karelian-Finnish epic poetry. The Republic of Karelia is a land of folk takes and poetic lakes.
