Viaggio ed eventi: La ferrovia Transiberiana è la ferrovia che attraversa l'Eurasia, che collega Russia europea, con le sue grandi regioni industriali e la capitale russa, alle regioni centrali della Siberia e quelle orientali (l'Estremo Oriente russo). La sua lunghezza di 9.288,2 km ne fa la ferrovia più lunga nel mondo. Fu per la prima volta presentata con grande sfarzo all'Esposizione universale di Parigi del 1900, con il nome di Train Transibérien. Si può chiamare più precisamente Transiberiana solo la parte orientale della ferrovia, da Čeljabinsk (al sud degli Urali) a Vladivostok. La sua lunghezza è circa 9.000 km di rotaie. Epiphany (Siberia - Tomsk) - 19 January 2012 [01:26]
Filmed in Tomsk - at -23°C !! ********* 19/01 : The Epiphany, celebrated in Russia and Ukraine on January 19, marks the baptism of Jesus in the Orthodox Church. Believing that on this day water becomes holy and is imbued with special powers, Russians and Ukrainians cut holes in the ice of lakes and rivers, often in the shape of the cross, to bathe in the freezing water. Participants in the ritual may dip themselves three times under the water, honoring the Holy Trinity, to symbolically wash away their sins from the past year, and to experience a sense of spiritual rebirth.
