La București, cu ocazia Zilei Naţionale a Rusiei, marcată printr-o ceremonie organizată la ambasadă, ambasadorul Federatiei Ruse la Bucuresti, Aleksander Ciurilin a spus că "Rusia nu doreşte ca Europa să alunece iar într-o situaţie de neînţelegere reciprocă, neîncredere şi de suspiciuni şi în mare parte spre confruntare...Rusia şi România sunt parteneri vechi. În lumea contemporană în continuă schimbare experienţa multilaterală de cooperare acumulată are o importanţă deosebită. Şi... este o vorbă la noi, la ruşi, "prietenul vechi este mai bun decât doi noi". De acest lucru ar trebui să ne amintim când reflectăm asupra perspectivelor relaţiilor noastre bilaterale precum şi ale politicii europene", a spus ambasadorul. Acesta a mai vorbit despre semnificaţia pe care ziua de 12 iunie, Ziua Rusiei, o are în istoria poporului său: "Declaraţia de suveranitate a Federaţiei Ruse a fost adoptată în urmă cu 21 de ani. Acesta a fost un eveniment de referinţă în istoria de 1150 de ani a Rusiei, prin care sa schimbat natura statalităţii şi a fost determinat un nou vector în evoluţia ţării". Cu aceeași ocazie, Excelența Sa a înmânat, din partea Federației Ruse, medalia Pușkin doamnei Izolda Vîrsta, pentru activitatea sa de peste 50 de ani ca profesor de limbă și literatură rusă, traducător și scriitor. Doamna Vîrsta a mulțumit cu emoție și cu recunoștință pentru aprecierea acordată amplei activități desfășurate cu generațiile de studenți, precum și în planul susținerii Asociației ...

Antonov An-225 Mriya Landing [00:35]
The Antonov An-225 Mriya is a strategic airlift cargo aircraft, designed by Antonov in the 1980s. It is the world's heaviest aircraft. The design, built in order to transport the Buran orbiter, was an enlargement of the successful An-124 Ruslan. The An-225's name, Mriya (Мрiя) means "Dream" (Inspiration) in Ukrainian. One An-225 was completed in 1988 and a second An-225 has been partially completed. The one An-225 is in commercial operation carrying oversized payloads.[1]

In reality you do start to realize just how large the land mass of Australia really is, so lets take a rain check here, there are 21 million people occupying a space the size of Continental Europe (excluding Russia) or America and Canada combined (excluding Alaska) and most population centres tend to be on the east coast with only Perth as the major hub on the south west coast, Darwin is just a village on the northern tip. To save time I opted to fly into Alice and take a drive south to Adelaide a few days later. Flying over the Simpson desert it was easy to see how the red centre got its name, the sand here is a firery terracotta red, from the air it feels like you have actually left plant Earth and are now in orbit around Mars such is the colour and sheer isolation of this region. So why build a town in the middle of such an arid landscape, well quite simply water is plentiful, it just happens to be in upside down rivers, that is to say the river courses around Alice Springs run underground. I had flow thousands of kilometers from drought plagued Brisbane where there were water restrictions in place, across some of the most inhospitable land known ...
