It works only once a year during the withe nights in June to preserve the mechanism so you have very few chance to see it work. But what a treat then ! Made of guilded bronze silver & glass, height 3 meters. C'est le seul grand automate du 18th qui nous soit parvenu en état de marche. Une merveille un peu grande pour mettre dans le salon de Mr tout-le-monde, mais quel régal de la voir fonctionner. Fait en bronze doré, argent & verre, hauteur 3m. This hall, built in 1850, resulted from a redesign by the architect Stackensteiner, of a wing of the Hermitage Palace built by Catherine the Great in the eighteenth century to house his lovers. All in white Carrara marble, with beautiful mosaic floor, the hall is remarkably beautiful, and home to the famous Clock-peacock. Cette salle, construire en 1850, résulte d'un remaniement par l'architecte Stackensteiner, d'une aile du Palais de l'Ermitage construite par Catherine la Grande au XVIIIème siècle pour y loger ses amants. Toute en marbre blanc de Carrare, avec au sol des mosaïques magnifiques, la salle est d'une beauté remarquable, et abrite la célébre Horloge-paon.
