Irkutsk is the capital of eastern Siberia and the Baikal region. While the city preserves its unique history, it also looks forward actively to Siberia's future. The Irkut River gave the name to the city, and the shore of the Angara river became a citadel of Russian discoverers in the 17th century. Today, from this cultural and scientific center, there are a lot of interesting routes on the unique railway around Lake Baikal, that includes hundreds of bridges and tunnels along the way. The Taltsy Ethnographic Museum is a delightful experience that reflects the history and culture of the Baikal area. Endless rivers and lakes rich in fish attract fishermen from all over the world. The Irkutsk Region is Siberia's bountiful and generous gift.

Victory Day is celebrated in Russia on May 9th as I time to remember those who fought in WWII and help defeat the Fascists. I was blessed to be able to attend the parade of veterans on Nevsky Prospekt and the concert following this year.
