Train terror plot derailed: 4 arrests [05:27]
Detained members of a subversive group were preparing a new terrorist act on the Moscow-St. Petersburg railroad, planning to blast the Sapsan high velocity express train, reports Kommersant newspaper citing its source in Russia's Security Service. Four terrorists-to-be were arrested in July thanks to timely information. A native of Russia's Kabardino-Balkarian republic, 22-year-old Islam Khamudjev, left his home in 2010 to join militants. He passed training in one of the terrorists' camps in Dagestan and set off to Moscow with some plan in mind. In the Russian capital, Khamudjev's accomplice, Murad Eldirbiev, bought fertilizer containing ammonia nitrate to produce a bomb. Their acquaintance Fyarid Nevlyudov was nominated to be driver of the group. A fourth suspect, Murad Umaev, was not personally involved in preparing the terror act, but was present when the group gathered and took part in discussions. Failed terrorists picked up a handy location with convenient escape routes on the railway in Moscow's Khimki suburbs to plant the bomb.

Inside The Last Russian Gulag Prison Camp "Perm 36" [08:54]
Alun Hill was invited to the Russia / Siberia border to see the last of the Soviet Gulag Prison Camps, called "Perm 36". After a tour of the security and the standard barracks (4 to a bed, each bed made up of just 2 planks of wood), he is shown into the "special regime" cells, which move him to tears. As he says - this was a prison for the most dangerous of Soviet people "not murderers or child molesters, but writers, journalists ... and thinkers". Anyone who was in any way believed to be against the Soviet way of life could be sent here. Even for thinking the "wrong" thoughts, asking the "wrong" questions, reporting the "wrong" facts. And it's minus 50 degrees in winter in this part of Russia ....

Yaroslavl 1000 Years [03:55]
Yaroslavl is the Administrative Center of Yaroslavl Oblast and one of Russia's Oldest City. The Year 2010 Yaroslavl Celebrated its 1000th Founding. The City is an Important Historical ( UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE CITY ) and Industrial Center. The City was once the De Facto Capital of Russia during the times of troubles that preceded until the 18th Century. During its 1000-year history Yaroslavl has been one of the strongholds of the Russian statehood. The rulers of Russia, the Ryurikovichs and the Romanovs reigning dynasties, and later the Soviet leaders attached great importance to the city. The very fact of the city foundation was the act of independent political will of the young Prince Yaroslav (the Wise) when he established a fortress on the Volga River to provide security of the northeastern boundaries of ancient Russia. During subsequent centuries the city was involved into all dramatic events of the Russian history. Yaroslavl became the first faithful ally of Moscow in bringing the Russian lands together under the patronage of the ancient capital. The Yaroslavl principality was among the first ones to enter the Moscow State voluntarily. City Population (2010) : 610900 Ethnic Groups: Russian, Ukrainian, Belorussian, Tatars

"Moscow, Russia" Catndeano's photos around Moscow, Russia [02:12]
A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Moscow, Russia by TravelPod blogger Catndeano titled "Moscow, Russia" Catndeano's travel blog entry: "Fri 7th July Up at 8:00 from a restless night, these bunks were very hard, my mattress kept falling off from all the bumping and it was cold. A quick dash to the loo before they locked them an hour before we got to the Moscow, had breakfast and then waited until we got to the station. We were by a driver who drove us to our hotel a good 20-30 mins from the station. At the hotel we were met by our guide who helped us fill in our passport registration forms and arranged a time for our tour tomorrow. Guess we'll have to make our own way today. As our room wasn't ready, we put our bags in storage and then headed into the city centre with Jacques and Claire. First stop, the Kremlin. There was a huge queue of tours which took a while to get through all the security (metal detectors) and when we went through the guard asked if we were English, and when we replied yes he just waved us through. Cool I'd hate to think what would have happened if we said we were American! We spent two hours looking around all the beautiful buildings trying to avoid the queues of tours and enjoying the experience. From there we walked around the outside of the Kremlin walls to Red Square via Mc'ds for an ice-cream (which was an experience trying to order something we didn't know the Russian name for). There are even more impressive buildings in Red ...
